I finally took the plunge and bought a copy of Z-Brush 3, and I gotta say I love this tool!

Lightwave 9.2

Just when I’m getting my Maya on, Newtek releases Lightwave 9.2. I did participate in the Open Beta, but didn’t managed to spare too much time to try out the new features of 9.2, apart from the fixes to the motion vectors which made RSMBExport possible.

Voice Recording

The past few days I’ve been looking at getting started on the voice recording for an animated short film I’ve written for Tropfest 2007. I’m doing all the recording myself and thought it was probably the right time to invest in some decent gear. I decided that it would a bonus to also be fairly “portable” with the set up, so I could record easily at other locations.

Hexagon - Impressions

Well I’ve spent a couple of hours checking out Hexagon. Silo is currently my dedicated modeller of choice, although I still use Lightwave’s modeller for modelling non-organics quite a bit. Here’s my first impressions of Hexagon based on only a short play ....

Lightwave - Mirror Morph

LightWave 3D Plugin Download

Just a quick update to the post a few days ago about the corrective morphs in Lightwave - this DStorm plugin is handy for this process too. Since using EditFX does not allow symmetry the MMorph (mirror morph) plugin will allow you to duplicate the same morph on the opposite side of the figure, so that you keep consistency and don’t have to model the morph twice. Bam!
